Obituary for Michael Edward Mullen

Michael (Mick) Mullen of Carlsbad California passed away on February 8 th , 2019 at the age of 84, at Scripp’s Memorial Hospital La Jolla, California in the presence of his wife, Maryann, his son, John, his brother and wife, John and Jo Ann Mullen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carlsbad on February 22 nd at 10:30, followed by internment at Miramar National Cemetery.
Mick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maryann (Angelus); his 3 children, daughter Marcia and her Husband Steve Gonzalez of Boston MA, daughter Lisa Mullen-Daniel and her husband Rick Daniel of Sedona AZ, and son John and his wife Marivi Mullen of Carlsbad; and 5 grandchildren: Dillon, Kathryn and Kyle Gonzalez; Nathan and Brendan Mullen. Michael was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on January 29th , 1935, the son of the late Edward James Mullen and Leona Mary (LeDuc) Mullen of Devils Lake ND. He attended Notre Dame University, enlisted in the U.S. army serving duty in Germany in the early 1950s and graduated Creighton University in 1959. Michael was employed in sales by Patterson
Dental Company, eventually becoming Vice President and retiring at age 57. Michael and Maryann Angelus of Omaha, Nebraska were married on January 2, 1960. Mick enjoyed his retirement on his boat, playing golf and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving siblings include John Darrel Mullen and wife Jo Ann of Carlsbad, California; Mrs. Edward R. Puhr (Dorothy) of Danville, Illinois; James Michael Mullen and wife Rita of Jefferson City, Missouri; and, Edward Joseph Mullen (Ted) of Easton, Pennsylvania along with extended family, Kathleen, Michael, Patrick, and Timothy Puhr; Terrie Mawdsley; Maureen Ball, Sheila Weyland, and Daniel Mullen. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Jane, and his brother-in-law, Sgt Edward R. Puhr. Condolences may be sent to Oceanside Mortuary, Oceanside, California ((760) 722-4264).
