Obituary for Frank Dominguez

Frank Dominguez, 75, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2019 in his family home in Oceanside, where he had been residing for the last two years. Since learning the devastating news of having end stage Kidney Cancer back in October 2017, he put up a relentless and admirable fight. His determination was unshakable, and although it pains us deeply to accept that he has lost his fight, he did so with dignity and honor as he painlessly slipped away with his loving family by his side.

Born in Yuma, Arizona, he was the son of the late John Gonzales Dominguez and Frances Gonzalez. He graduated from Yuma Highschool, then shortly after, moved to Fresno, California where he joined the United States Air Force in 1966.

Frank loved his work, and he loved working. He dedicated 26 years of his life to the Air Force. Here, he was able to continue his education at the Community College of the Air Force. He majored in Aircraft maintenance Technology and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree. From here, he was able to further his career as he was elected and completed both NCO and Senior NCO Academy. He retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent and with his combined experience in the maintenance and management of aircraft operations, he was able to secure himself a position with Delta Airlines, formerly known as Northwest Airlines. It was here that he found his other home away from home and where he proudly stayed until his next retirement in 2009. Yet, anyone who knew him knows that he never truly retired as he went on to complete many of his “projects” anywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Dominguez, who he married in 1982. They lived and shared nearly 40 years together on the island of Guam, where they raised their 2 children: Kristopher Anthony and Tatianna Keiko.

He additionally leaves as his legacy 4 children/spouses: Frank/Emma Dominguez, Ronald/Jacquelyn Dominguez, Donald Dominguez, Tanya Dominguez; 9 grandchildren: Anna, Raymond, Jesse, Alyssa, Jasmarie, Steven, Toni, Eric, and Shalene; 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory 3 siblings: Mary & Joe Mendez, Joe Dominguez, and Charlie & Liz Ohn; in-laws: Luis & Rit Duenas, Pete & Teri Duenas, Tony & Laling Duenas, Jesus Duenas, Arturo Edquid, Dave & Faith Duenas, Joe & Kathy Duenas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Johnny Dominguez, brother; Albert Dominguez, brother; Margaret Leyva, sister; Josephine Williams, sister; Kay Duenas, sister in-law; Ben & Josephine Duenas, brother in-law; Maria Edquid, sister in-law; Francisco Duenas, brother in-law; Antonio Cruz Duenas, father in-law; Ana Borja Castro, mother in-law.

Frank will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him. We would like to invite anyone touched by him to join us in our final goodbyes. Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am on Tuesday, May 21st at the Oceanside Mortuary Chapel. During this time, light refreshments will be provided by the family in the Atrium area only. There will be no food or drinks permitted in the Chapel at any time. The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Paul from 11:00am – 12:00pm. The Burial Ceremony will follow at the Miramar National Cemetery at 2:00pm sharp.

Pallbearers will be Kristopher Dominguez, Frank Dominguez, Ron Dominguez, Don Dominguez, Joseph Duenas, and Marcos Parra.

Flowers, Donations, and Condolences may be offered at The Oceanside Mortuary during the Funeral Service times. We also ask and encourage anyone who would like to share some words, pictures, or memories of Frank, to do so on this wonderful platform provided to us by the Oceanside Mortuary Team.

We also wish to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Siddiqui, Nurse Patty, Renee, Karen and the rest of her team at the UCSD Moore’s Cancer Center, Dr. Nguyen at UC San Diego Health, Dr. Kyaw at the Balboa Nephrology Medical Group, Dr. Phillips, and the countless others over at Tri-City Medical Center who tirelessly cared for my dad from beginning to end. Although our hearts have just undergone an agonizing pain during the illness and passing of our loved one, we are touched by the many acts of kindness extended to our family. All of your prayers and expressions of love and sympathy are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
